Mike Gow was a finalist for this year’s ‘Dentist of the Year’ at ‘The Dental Awards 2008’, and was also recently voted as the 66th most influential dentist in the UK in a poll run by ‘Dentistry’ magazine.
Mike graduated from The University of Glasgow Dental School in 1999. In 2001 he created the website www.WhatFear.Com to help people worldwide overcome dental phobia.
In 2005, Mike graduated with a Masters in Hypnosis Applied to Dentistry from the University of London, having achieved a distinction at the Diploma level. He regularly teaches dentists and doctors on the topic of hypnosis. Mike is currently the President of “The British Society of Medical and Dental Hypnosis (Scotland)” and is an accredited member of the society. He is also an accredited member of the British Society of Clinical and Academic Hypnosis. Mike uses hypnosis clinically for a wide range of dental problems (e.g. dental phobia management, stopping bruxism, reducing gag reflex, smoking cessation etc). Mike is currently studying for a Masters degree in Dental Anxiety Management at Edinburgh University, which complements his clinical experience in conscious sedation techniques including intravenous, inhalation and oral sedation.
Mike has published many papers on hypnosis, dental phobia management and also bruxism.
